1. Introduction

Starting your course at London Innovative Studies (LSIS) is an exciting and challenging experience. If you are an international student with a Student Visitor (Short-Term) Visa, there are specific responsibilities and guidelines that you must follow. This guide aims to help answer your questions and provide a checklist of actions that you need to take.

If you have any questions, contact the Admissions Office at London Innovative Studies.

2. What are your responsibilities under the Student Visitor Visa?

Enrolment

At the time of enrolment, ensure you have:

  • A valid passport for the duration of your course
  • Student Visitor (Short-Term) Visa for your course duration at London Innovative Studies

Attendance

Regular attendance is required for all students. London Innovative Studies must track and report your attendance to UK authorities. Failure to attend without a valid reason may lead to disciplinary actions, and potentially the cancellation of your visa.

Contact and Participation

Student participation includes attending lectures, tutorials, and exams, and submitting coursework as required by your course. Keep your tutor informed if you are unable to attend classes due to illness or other valid reasons.

Length of Course

If your course duration changes, London Innovative Studies will report this to UK authorities, which may affect your visa status.

3. Change of Personal Details

It is your responsibility to keep your contact details up to date. Notify the following parties if there are any changes:

  • London Innovative Studies
  • UK immigration authorities (via designated forms)
  • Police, if you are required to register
  • Your financial sponsor (if applicable)

4. Biometric Residence Permit (BRP) Card (if applicable)

If you hold a BRP card, you must update your details if your name, nationality, or appearance changes, or if the card is lost or stolen.

5. Register with the Police (if required)

Certain nationalities are required to register with the police within seven days of arrival in the UK. If this applies to you, ensure you follow the necessary procedures and keep your Police Registration Certificate up to date.

6. Working during your Studies in the UK

Student Visitor (Short-Term) Visa holders are generally not allowed to work during their stay in the UK. If you are unsure of your work rights, check your visa or contact the International Office at London Innovative Studies for clarification.

7. London Innovative Studies’s duties as a licensed sponsor

London Innovative Studies has specific duties as your sponsor. We are required to report the following to UK authorities:

  • Failure to enrol on your course
  • Withdrawal from the course
  • Changes to your course length
  • Any breaches of your visa conditions.
